pairing the unexpected…

It’s my last day of holidays before I go back to work. I’ve spent most of my time reading and hanging out with my beasts (the dogs).

I’ve never been that great with too much free time. I’m very much used to always doing something or always being in the process of achieving something. So now that I’ve got all this free time I’m finding it quite mentally challenging!

But, the free time has also allowed to do some fun things with friends! Things like bottomless brunch and little road trips to cute beach towns. It’s also given me the chance to experiment with different outfit combinations.

This is the outfit I wore to bottomless brunch with one of my best friends.

This outfit is a cross-cultural accumulation of different places I’ve travelled to. The shirt, which is like a cheongsam, was a gift from my father as a child from the Phillipines… and it still fits (it used to be huge on me)!

The skirt is a high wasted belted tartan skirt from Sandro. The buckle has a brown velvet detailing. It’s kind of Scottish but also 70’s inspired. The boots are by an LA based brand called Matisse in collaboration with Kate Bosworth. They have the most beautiful star detailing along the back of the suede boot. Not to mention that they’re also extremely comfortable!

Lastly, the bag (which you might have seen on my Instagram). This was a gift from my Mom and I honestly have no idea where it’s from! I’ve found it difficult to style at times as it’s not as versatile as some of my other bags. But I will say that it’s the perfect size and fits everything I need easily.

This outfit was a bit of an experiment, and honestly I’m not sure I’ve seen something like it before on Instagram or Pinterest. I think it’s really unexpected combining these kind of pieces together (not to mention the bright purple hair! Don’t worry – it’s temporary).  Experimenting like this is what I love  about fashion, and it also combines my love of travel! Sometimes it doesn’t always work but hey, life is a series of experiments isn’t it?  (But PS. I think I nailed this one)

Shirt: You can find these online everywhere, but also if you’re travelling to Asia they often have them at most of the markets you go to!

Skirt:  Sandro – available here and on sale! (Ffs though I bought it full price *sigh*)

Boots: These exact shoes aren’t available anymore however they do amazing boots. Link to the website here!

Lots of Love,

T
